  RATE INCREASE

At the regular Board of Directors meeting of September 11, 2003 the Board voted unanimously to increase the monthly water rates.

After much study and evaluation of Bolivar Water Supply Corp-oration’s allocated monthly cost to operate this system, Bolivar’s Engineer recommends this increase for the Corporation. He has based the increase on the 2001 and 2002 annual audit.

Bolivar WSC has not had an increase of the base rate for over 11 years and has found it necessary to adequately fund the overall maintenance and operation of the system.

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2003

The new rate schedule will be as follows:

Monthly Minimum           $28.50

0-2000 gallons                        $2.75 per 1000 gal

2000-5000 gallons                  $3.50 per 1000 gal

5000-10,000 gallons               $3.75 per 1000 gal

10,000-25,000 gallons            $4.25 per 1000 gal

Over 25,000 gallons                $6.25 per 1000 gal

New Meter Service remains $3,800.00

                1” Meter             $ 71.25

                1 ½” Meter         $142.50

              2” Meter             $228.00

The new rate will affect the bill that you receive December 1, 2003

We made it through another summer without going to a water rationing notice program.  We are so thankful for the much needed rain.

This past year has been very costly due to the Canyon Lake Well going dry.  This well was drilled in 1972.  We were forced to drill another well to supply this area.  The new well is finished and is pumping around 225-240 gallons per minute compared to the old at 80 gallons per minute.  With a larger pump and the latest in technology, the new well should last 40-50 years with a little luck.

Thanks to all of the members/customers that were affected in this area for being so understanding and patient during this transition.

We’ve also had several repairs on other wells throughout the system due to lightening damage.
